The Holiday Hustle
It’s that time of year again. The shopping rush is upon us and Shoppers and Couriers on Amazon Flex, Instacart, and other gig platforms are feeling the squeeze. We’re about a week away from family trips to the airport in the backseats of Ubers and Lyfts with piles of luggage and Christmas gifts.
‘Tis the season, as they say. Hopefully the season for friendly customers and great tips, but also the season for you and your family to find a moment of peace among the craziness of the holidays.
We’re just a few weeks from the end of the year, and it’s prime earning time! December can be a great month to outperform your financial goals and start 2023 on a positive note.
Now, let’s check out what’s happening in the gig economy.

Inside the Fight to Pay Food Delivery Workers $23 an hour
New York City food couriers take note – The fight continues to institute a new minimum wage for food couriers on apps like Uber Eats, GrubHub, DoorDash and others. Gig workers have different opinions on this issue, and the big companies like Uber and DoorDash are pushing back with worries that this would lead to higher prices for consumers, ultimately leading to lower demand. One way or another, we’ll wait and see where this issue shakes out in the new year.

YouTuber - The Long Island Dash Experience
Meet Lou & Mary from Long Island as they do a multi-app ride along for 4 hours with a goal of earning $120. They hit some snags (and slow orders) along the way, and ultimately come in under their goal. But there are some gems in this video, including the discovery of breakfast pizza… Apparently, world changing inventions still happen every day.
Tips & Tools
This week's suggestions are brought to you by our friend Kim over at Kim's Side Money Plans
Collapsible Cart
"A collapsible cart. If you do grocery apps, it’s a life saver. There are lots of great options available like this one from Gorilla Carts on Amazon"
LED Hat
"Any flashlight! I personally have an LED scully hat for night time deliveries. It’s good for safety and seeing those difficult houses with no lights!"
